Cynthia received her veterinary degree from the University of Liverpool and trained in anesthesiology with the late Dr. LW Hall at the University of Cambridge. After a short time in general veterinary practice, she moved to a faculty position in the University of Guelph in Canada and then to the Universities of Illinois, Missouri and Georgia in the USA. Her primary focus has been clinical anesthesia and research of clinical problems relating to anesthesia and intensive care of small and large animal species, exemplified by a heavy teaching commitment, extensive number of continuing education presentations and many book chapters, including the Elsevier textbook Veterinary Anaesthesia. Dr Trim has been a member of the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists (AVA) since 1970 and is a past president (1985) of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia. She has been an Editor-in-Chief of this journal since 2012.
